Mind Your Money – Financial Behaviour for VET Learners
Project number: 2026-1-DE02-KA220-VET-000448899
Type of project: KA220-VET – Cooperation partnerships in VET
Duration: 24 months (September 2026 to August 2028)
Description:
Many learners in vocational education and training (VET) struggle with financial pressure, irregular income and low confidence in managing money. This affects their wellbeing, their ability to finish their training and their chances of finding stable work. Yet financial behaviour is rarely part of VET programmes, and when it is, the teaching is often theoretical rather than practical.
Mind Your Money helps VET learners aged 18–35 build healthier, more confident financial habits. Instead of abstract financial theory, the project focuses on everyday financial behaviour: budgeting, saving, managing irregular income, using digital payments safely, avoiding risky debt and setting realistic financial goals. It places a strong focus on learners with fewer opportunities, including migrants, jobseekers and adults returning to education. It also supports the VET teachers, trainers and company mentors who work with them every day.
What we are creating
- Financial Behaviour Curriculum: six practical modules with case studies, worksheets, role-plays and real-life exercises.
- Trainer and Mentor Pack: at least 20 short, ready-to-use tools for educators, such as 15-minute activities, coaching questions, checklists and behavioural “nudges”.
- Digital Budget Lab: an interactive, mobile-friendly online tool where learners practise financial decisions in realistic situations, such as fluctuating income, unexpected costs or comparing financial options.
All materials are inclusive, gender-sensitive, accessible and based on non-formal learning. They will be tested with at least 120 VET learners and 50 teachers, trainers and mentors in Germany, Italy, Spain, Malta and Bulgaria, and will remain freely available after the project ends.
